Russia: Volgaburmash Hang On

BC Volgaburmash blew a huge lead in the second half but recovered just in time to beat UMMC Ekaterinburg and remain undefeated in the Russia's top flight.

In a battle of sides that took part in the EuroLeague Women - Volgaburmash have reached the Final Four - the hosts stormed out to a 27-12 advantage by the end of the first quarter and that maintained that lead by half-time.

In the third quarter, UMMC battled back and trailed 55-54 but the Samara club did just enough to clinch their 21st victory in as many games this season in the Superleague Women.

UMMC, who were knocked out of the EuroLeague Women in the eighth-finals, are 18-4 and in second place in Russia.

Volgaburmash's Maria Stepanova led all scorers with 21 points.
