Round-Up: TTT Riga Lose Weaver, Brno On A Roll

23.11.2009

TTT Riga's celebrations after their first EuroLeague Women triumph of the season at TEO Vilnius have been cut short following the news that high-scoring power forward Lyndra Weaver is going to be out of action due to injury.

Weaver rolled her ankle in the 74-68 win in Lithuania. The sprain will keep the 22-year-old sidelined for between four and six weeks.

The loss of Weaver is big as the American has averaged 17.8 points and 4.5 rebounds per contest in Europe.

"It is going to be a very hard game on Wednesday against UMMC (Ekaterinburg), but I hope we will show a decent game and fight till the end with the means we possess," said Riga's Latvia international point guard Kristine Karklina.

Frisco On A Roll

Frisco Sika Brno are red-hot in the EuroLeague Women with three straight wins and in the Czech Republic ZBL they're also cruising along at 12-0 following Saturday's 102-76 road triumph at Strakonice.

Hollie Grima led  the way with 24 points and seven rebounds with Dewanna Bonner pouring in 18 and Czech international Eva Viteckova 17.

The star of their midweek win over Lotos Gdynia, Taj McWilliams, did not play for Frisco.

She had 22 points and played all 40 minutes in the 83-72 home success over Gdynia.

Karlovy Vary were no match for the Czech Republic's other EuroLeague Women outfit, USK Prague.

Lubor Blazek's side improved to 11-1 with a 105-47 win at Karlovy Vary.

USK Prague's only defeat so far in the Czech league was to Frisco Sika Brno on October 14, a 92-75 setback.

Frisco are 3-1 in EuroLeague Women Group D and in first place, one point clear of Spartak Moscow Region while Prague are 2-2 and in third place in Group C.
