While Ieva Kublina is best known for her fantastic work inside where she utilises her mobility, strength down low and passing in the lanes to great effect, she is also capable of stepping out and drilling home baseline jump shots or converting from downtown. In 2004, after an impressive college career, she was the first Latvian player to be drafted by a WNBA club. Since EuroBasket Women 2005, Kublina has produced consistently in a National Team vest including a typically solid display at the Olympics in 2008. The 1.93m power forward has a wealth of experience at club level, where she has been something of a globetrotter-playing in the Czech Republic, France, Latvia, Lithuania, Hungary and Russia-she also has plenty of experience in major club competitions such as EuroCup Women and EuroLeague Women. She remains a very important core member and one of the leaders of the Latvian team.
