Trutnov Ready For FIBA EuroLeague Tip-Off

Trutnov basketball players improved the spectators´ mood after the unsuccessful derby with Hradec Králové, in the first match of the new season.

After winning in Ústí nad Labem 106:57, they captured a victory against Sparta Prague  87:66.

This week they are playing two games: on Wednesday against Strakonice and on Saturday against Olomouc. Next Wednesday there is a historical event in Trutnov – the start of the FIBA EuroLeague Women against Athens!

If it wasn´t for the third quarter, where they played badly, the Trutnov players would have gained a more convincing victory, which happened after a tough struggle but a successful finish.

"It was not an easy match, Sparta gave us a lot of trouble, but we managed in the end and are really glad about winning in our home arena. I hope we have enthralled our spectators before the EuroLeague starts," says the guard Michaela Uhrová.

“The home team victory with high quality players was unambiguous. We were only able to endanger our rivals in the third quarter," admitted Michal Žahour, the assistant coach of Sparta.

“First, we were anxious, but now this victory over a tough team gives us the courage after our bad start to the new season," confessed Zdeněk Sýkora, the head coach of BK Loko  Trutnov.
