Darina Johnova

Career: .MUS Strakonice (Czech Republic-ZBL, 2002-03), Trutnov (Czech Republic-ZBL, 2003-06), Gambrinus Brno (Czech Republic-ZBL, 2006-07)

Coach Bobrovsky trusted Johnova with a place in the team that travelled to Brazil for the 2006 FIBA World Championship for Women, her first senior-level event. She hardly played there, in what proved to be a bitter-sweet event for the Czechs. Johnova’s role, much like at club side Gambrinus Brno, is to provide the big team names with a breather while scoring a few points along the way. Coming off the bench in the Czech League she has averaged 8.4 points in17.5 minutes this season. Her silverware collection includes a pair of bronze medals from the U20 European Championships in 2004 and the U18 in 2002.
