It took a while for BC Khimki to get going against Sibirtelekom Lokomotiv Novosibirsk in the Superleague but once they did, there was no stopping them.
Trailing 36-27 late in the first half on Friday evening, Khimki battled back and took the lead with an 11-0 run which bridged the third and fourth quarters and won 85-75.
With the game knotted at 56-56 with just over 11 minutes remaining, Italian international Gianmarco Pozzecco scored seven points in that key spurt as Khimki took command.
Pozzecco, who will play for the Rest of the World team at the EuroCup All-Star Day in Cyprus on March 14, finished with 16 points and four assists. He was a perfect eight of eight from the free throw line.
Alexander Petrenko led all Khimki scorers with 17 points while recent signing Ademola Okulaja, the German international, impressed with eight points in just 12 minutes off the bench. He made both of his attempts from three-point range.
Khimki have 14 wins and three defeats and are alone in second place behind CSKA Moscow (15-2) in the Superleague.
Now the team can focus firmly on its EuroCup quarter-final tie with Dexia Mons-Hainaut, a best-of-three series which tips off on February 21.
