BC Khimki coach Serguei Elevich praised his side's approach after they "followed the plan" in their 77-65 win over local rivals Dynamo Moscow.
Khimki now have 12 wins and three defeats and are in second place behind leaders CSKA Moscow (12-2).
"We came out for the game in the right mood," said Elevich. "We followed the plan that was prepared for the game, despite the fact we were trailing at times. I think we won because of that.
"We played aggressively in defense and, despite Dynamo's improvement in the second half, we never gave them the initiative.
Dynamo head coach Rutjanis Paulauskas lamented his side's failure to convert their chances, saying: "We can't win every home game but we must be more accurate on shots and should do better on rebounds.
"There are some things we must discuss. Firstly, it's the performance of our guards that doesn't suit me or the team.
"The main difference in today's game was the performance of the guards," he added.
"We couldn't find a way to win the game but we were trying different things, hoping it would be okay.
"But we failed. Basketball isn't a lottery."
Khimki are attempting to seal their qualification for the quarter-final round of the EuroCup this week. They lead Group L with a 4-1 record ahead of DKV Joventut (3-1), the team they visit, and Azovmash (3-2).
