Paris Levallois stormed to the finish to claim an 84-70 win over BCMU Pitesti, boosting their own chances of progression from Group E of the EuroChallenge while extinguishing the hopes of the visitors from Romania.

In an intriguing battle that saw the lead change hands 11 times, Paris eventually pulled in front one final time midway through the third quarter and then quickly pulled away to make for a comfortable finish.

Pitesti arrived in the French capital winless and drinking in the last chance saloon, but they had plenty of bright spots in the first half, and an 11-2 run carried them into a 31-26 lead on Damien Kinloch's lay-up early in the second quarter.

And although Paris snatched it back a handful of times, the lead remained in Romanian hands most of the way until Sean May got the tip-in from his own blocked shot to make it 50-50 with 4:04 left in the third quarter.

Antoine Diot then put the Parisiens ahead with a three-point play and they never trailed again, with Diot the man to give them breathing space as his back-to-back three-pointers made it 63-55 before the end of the third.

They continued to pull clear in the fourth period, with John Cox's free throw giving them their first double-digit advantage at 76-66 3:48 from the end.

May led Paris with 22 points and 12 rebounds. Cox added 18 points while Diot collected 17 and Jawad Williams had 12.

Marcel Jones had 16 points to lead Pitesti while Andonte Gennie had 15 points and Kinloch and Pankracije Barac contributed 14 each.
