Eleni Papadimitriou

Career: Arion Ptolemaida (1992-96, Local Division), Apollon Ptolemaida (1996-2000, Greece-A1), Apollon Kalamarias (2000-01, Greece-A1), Apollon Ptolemaida (2001-07, Greece A1)

Papadimitriou grew up in Ptolemaida and left her hometown only when she was signed by Apollon Kalamarias in Thessaloniki. Her first major international event was in the summer of 2001, when she joined the National Team for the Mediterranean Games in Tunisia. Although she took part in the 2004 Olympic Games pre-camp, she was one of the last two players cut by then coach Giorgos Tsitskaris. The current coach, Kostas Missas, included her in the 15-member squad for the 2007 qualification round, but due to a knee-injury, Eleni felt she wasn’t ready to give 100% and opted out. She is a quick point guard and a great passer, creating opportunities for her teammates. Last season the 27-year-old averaged 8.5 points, 3.8 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 1.5 steals per game in the A1 last season.
