Lietuvos telekomas is looking for a win on Wednesday’s women’s Euroleague game against TS Wisla Can-Pack. This win could take Lithuanians back to the top position in Group A, which was lost last week after a defeat from Gambrinus JME.
Lietuvos telekomas and TS Wisla Can-Pack have never met in official European tournaments before. Nevertheless both teams know each other very well since they played a lot of games in friendly tournaments. Last time they met on 11 October 2003 in Gdynia (Poland) mayor’s Cup. Lietuvos telekomas was very strong then and won that tournament. They defeated TS Wisla Can-Pack 80:54 at that time.
This time TS Wisla Can-Pack has a different team, which looks to be stronger than the one which Lietuvos Telekomas defeated a year ago. A win on the road over Sopron proves Wisla's strength and that fact will have been noted by Lietuvos telekomas' coaching staff.
Katie Douglas from Lietuvos telekomas will have her own aims this time. The Euroleague’s leading scorer gave a rather poor performance last week in Brno, so she will be full of desire to retrieve her reputation in front of the home crowd. She is going to face her former team mate from the WNBA’s Connecticut “Sun” Shannon Johnson and the duel between these two promises to be rather spectacular.
