Lamar Greer earns FIBA Europe League MVP honours this week and he had to work pretty hard to get it. Greer played 58 minutes in BC Kiev’s quadruple overtime, 122-125 victory over Nymburk.
He tallied 32 points, 6 assists and 2 steals in the game and committed just 3 turnovers.
"This is a great win and I am happy to be a part of it," said Greer after his team’s historic win.
"Going through this affects the entire team – the morale goes up, which leads towards new successes. We are going the right way, gaining speed from game to game."
Greer, who is in his first season with Kiev, is no stranger to FIBA Europe League success. He was an integral part of Kazan’s 2004 FIBA Europe League winning team, although he didn’t get to play in the final four due to injury.
Greer’s season-ending contribution came in Kazan’s semi-final play-off win over KK Hemofarm and he tallied 18 points (7/10 shooting) in the 87-58 win.
Although Greer was in uniform for the final four, he was not fully fit and Kazan coach Stanislav Eremin chose not to risk his star guard.
Greer played his college basketball at Florida State. He first came to Europe in 2000, signing for Napoli, before joining Kazan in 2003.
