BC Kiev guard Lamarr Greer is enjoying a short break after a record breaking 58 minutes on court in his side’s quadruple overtime win over Nymburk in the FIBA Europe League last week.

Greer’s 32-point, 6-assist contribution to Kiev’s 122-125 road victory earned him FIBA Europe League MVP of the Week honours.

“Receiving the award was a great pleasure to me, however winning the historic game against Nymburk was an even greater pleasure,” said Greer.

Having played 58 minutes in 4 over times is unbelievable and I feel great about the accomplishment.”

“My cousin Lynn Greer, who plays for Dynamo Moscow, called me to congratulate and suggested that I take a week off. I did take some rest, but it was just one day – my legs hurt so much that I had to spend 2 hours with team doctor right after the game.”

Greer is in his first season with Kiev, and was one of several key summer signings for the Ukrainian side. The infusion of new blood seems to have paid off, as Kiev have recorded a 3-1 start to the FIBA Europe League.

“I am very happy that our team won the game against Nymburk. It was indeed an historic feat – the longest international match ever,” said former Soviet Union center and current BC Kyiv President Alexander Volkov

“I am also very pleased that BC Kiev player was awarded the prestigious FIBA Europe League week MVP title. When we signed Lamarr Greer we knew he was going to be our team’s leader and even the kind of game that he demonstrated in the disappointing loss to Fenerbahce did not lessen our faith in him.

“Since then Lamarr has been adding on in every game displaying great leadership qualities and teamwork”.

Kiev's 60-minute marathon with Nymburk was the longest ever official FIBA Europe game, but does not hold the European record. That feat probably belongs to Italian second division sides Banco Sardegna Sassari and Lineltex Trieste, who produced a five-overtime game in 1999.

Sassari were the eventual winners, 121-116 and Trieste guard Michael Williams (now with Ferrara) poured in 48 points.
