|Robert Dixon had 32 points in an away win for Pinar Karsiyaka on Tuesday night|
Pinar Karsiyaka added to BK Ventspils' woes as they came from behind in the final minute to claim an 86-81 road win in Group I of the EuroChallenge.
Ventspils marched through the EuroChallenge regular season unbeaten but have now lost their opening two games in the Last 16 stage after going down in a tense finish here.
It was a desperately close game throughout, with 15 lead changes and 11 ties, and neither team ever holding an advantage of more than seven points.
Ventspils were the team to have their noses narrowly in front coming down the stretch, with Martins Meiers twice giving them the lead with late lay-ups.
William Thomas' three-pointer gave Karsiyaka a 76-75 advantage with 85 seconds left, but Sandis Valters went to the line to make it 77-76 to Ventspils 63 ticks from time.
But Jon Diebler's three-pointer then started a decisive run in the game as Janis Timma turned the ball over to allow Robert Dixon to add two free throws.
Another Ventspils turnover, this time from Donald Sims, led to Dixon returning to the free-throw line again, making two more that made it 83-77 with just 19 seconds left.
Arturs Berzins hit a three to give Ventspils hope, but key free throws from Thomas saw Karsiyaka home.
Dixon poured in 32 points to lead Karsiyaka while Thomas had 15 with 11 rebounds. Diebler finished with 17 points while Abdul Aminu had 13.
Berzins led Ventspils with 19 points while Valters and Folarin Campbell had 14 each, Meiers 13 and Sims 10.
