EUROCHALLENGE

Triumph Lyubertsy identified Mire Chatman as the man they had to stop to have any success against Pinar Karsiyaka in Tuesday's opening game of the EuroChallenge Last 16.

They failed to do so, though, with Chatman firing Karsiyaka to a 90-75 victory in the Moscow Region.

Chatman erupted for 29 points and Jovo Stanojevic poured in 24 for the Turkish club in the Group L game.

With the visitors on top 56-54 in the last minute of the third quarter, Chatman drew a foul from 19-year-old guard Artem Vikhrov and made two free-throws.

Immediately after, a wayward three-ball by Sergey Karasev triggered a fast break that Chatman finished for a 60-54 lead.

Stanojevic and Chatman then made lay-ups at the start of the last quarter for a 64-54 advantage and following a basket by Triumph, Chatman struck from long range for an 11-point lead.

Chatman would go on to score 12 points in the last quarter.

For Triumph, Victor Zvarykin had 18 points and Dmitry Kulagin 16 along with 11 rebounds.

Artem Kuzyakin also weighed in with 16 points in defeat.

Since winning their first four games in the EuroChallenge, Triumph have lost three in a row.
