Career: G.C.Larisas (Greece-A2, 1994-1998), Keravnos Larisas (Greece-4th Division,1998-1999), G.C.Larisas (Greece-A2, 1999-2001), Marousi BC (Greece-HEBA A1, 2001-2005), Panathinaikos BC (Greece-HEBA A1, 2005-…). Drafted in the second round of the 2004 NBA draft (#50), by the Dallas Maverics.
The year 2005 is maybe the year of Thessalia, in Greek basketball, as next season two teams from the capital city of Larisa will play in the A1 championship and also three players who grew up playing basketball there (one of them is Spanoulis, the others Dikoudis and Kommatos) are in the national team. Spanoulis is the next…Diamantidis for the national team. Quick, intelligent, brave, a player that every coach would like to have at his disposal. Yannakis used to have “Bill” the past seasons in Maroussi and helped him a lot, seeing in the face of the 23 year old play-maker, maybe a new Yannakis. Member of almost all the junior Greek national teams, gained medals and personal awards in many tournaments and last year the Dallas Mavericks picked him up at the NBA Draft searching for the new Steve Nash. Early July he saw his big dream come true as he got transferred to Panathinaikos looking forward to titles not only in Greece but also in the Euroleague.
