The players of both Gambrinus Sika Brno and USO Mondeville have had better games in the EuroLeague Women, according to both coaches.

Gambrinus prevailed 62-44 on Tuesday, and winning coach Jan Bobrovsky said: "My players did not have enough self confidence in the first half. We prepared for the pressure of French high-fliers Mondeville but we made too many turnovers despite that.

"We started better in the second half but we lost a 15-point advantage due to our bad mistakes on defense.

"The performance of Mondeville confirmed their position in the French league today (Tuesday)."

Mondeville's starting point guard Caroline Koechlin was hurt and did not play, which complicated things for coach Herve Coudray as he searched for a way to upset one of the best teams in Europe.

"We were in a difficult position because we played a team with an aggressive defense today," he said. "You could see this in the second half when Brno took the advantage."

USO had led 29-27 late in the first half but Gambrinus went to the interval with a 33-29 advantage.

They scored off the first 11 points of the second half to take control.

"We played without fast-breaks and we made too many mistakes on defense as well," the Mondeville coach said.
