Jure BALAZIC - EuroBasket 2013 Profile

Team 2012-13: Erdemir (Turkey-TBL)
Career: Krka mladi (Slovenia-1A, 1997-01); Krsko (Slovenia-1B, 2001-02); Krka Telekom Novo mesto (Slovenia-1A, 2002-05); Deltalcon APOEL Nicosia (Cyprus-1A, 2005-06); Atomeromu SE Paks (Hungary-A, 2006-07); Krka Novo mesto (Slovenia-1A, 2007-12); Erdemir (Turkey-TBL, 2012-13)

Even though he is one of the oldest and most experienced players on the preliminary squad of Bozidar Maljkovic, he will make his first appearance at a FIBA Europe national team competition this summer, if he makes it into the 12 selected players for EuroBasket 2013. He was tested for the first time by coach Maljkovic last summer, when his team played a series of preparation games, where he impressed and improved his odds to play for the national team at his mature age. He can contribute to the team's game in various ways, whether it is scoring inside and outside, rebounding, blocking shots or assisting. In the past few years he claimed three Slovenian national championship titles, as well as a EuroChallenge title with Krka, before going abroad again. With the absence of Erazem Lorbek and Miha Zupan, in addition to Matjas Smodis having ended his career, his chances of playing this summer are strong.
