Azovmash coach Rimas Girskis had harsh words for his players after their heavy defeat to Dynamo Moscow Region in the EuroCup.

The defending Ukrainian Superliga champions were brushed aside for their first defeat in Round II, and after reviewing the tapes Girskis said: "I think the reason of our defeat is because of my players were too confident.

"They thought they'd already qualified for play-offs and finished on the top of group.

"That's why they were not concentrated on the game, especially on offense where they took a number of quick shots and actions...."

Nevertheless, Girskis does believe that even on a bad day, his players emerged with a little credit.

"Still, I'm satisfied with defense," he said, "but not with offense."

Next up in the EuroCup is a game at in-form ASKA Riga, with the Latvians still contending for a place in the quarter-finals.

"I'm not surprised with ASK Riga's  success," he said.

"They are a good team, so I think we'll have tough game next Tuesday.

"Still, I hope we win and finish on top to secure homecourt advantage in quarter-finals."

Azovmash have signed forward Carlos Ricardo Powell following the release of Rodney Buford.

Powell, a 23-year-old American, arrives after a stint with the New Zealand Breakers in Australia's top flight.
