Watching Dynamo Moscow Region play of late has been like watching a rollercoaster.

The Russians were on the way up on Tuesday as they whipped Azovmash 68-51 in EuroCup Group J to improve their chances of reaching the next stage of the competition.

The outcome has left Dynamo with three wins and two defeats in the group, while Azovmash are 4-1 after their first setback in the pool.

A combination of Dynamo's defense and Azovmash's woeful shooting was the key to this game.

Rimas Girskis' visitors were just 12 of 41 (29.2%) inside the arc while from three-point range, they were two of 14 (14.2%).

Their ills were also evident at the free throw line with Azovmash an abysmal 21 of 37 (56.7%).

The hosts landed a first-quarter punch that Azovmash never recovered from, going on an 11-0 run to lead 21-7.

Russian international Nikita Morgunov started off the spurt with a jump shot and a pair of free throws, and then Roderick Blakney weighed in with four more at the charity stripe.

Joshua Davis' three-ball with just 2:47 remaining in the quarter stretched the lead to 14.

The lead ballooned to 32-11 three minutes into the second quarter when Blakney added two more free throws, taking his personal tally to nine
points.

Azovmash did not give up but were unable to cut into the deficit.

They twice cut Dynamo's lead to 13 late in the game, but never got any closer.

Blakney scored 16 points, including making 10 of 12 (83.3%) from the free throw line. He also had five rebounds and came up with three steals.

Igor Zamansky had 13 points and six rebounds while Morgunov and Davis scored 10 apiece.

Kenan Bajramovic scored 16 points for Azovmash.
