Dynamo Moscow Region 79 vs. Banvit BC 45

10.04.2005

Dynamo Moscow Region shook off yesterday’s Semi-Final loss by arriving at the game for 3rd place ready to take care of business and secure one win at this Final Four. Within 10 minutes they had already displayed total dominance over Banvit BC and left no-one in the gym in any doubt of the final result.

Banvit’s fortunes looked doomed from the start as Dynamo’s barrage of 3-pointers in the first four minutes from Sandis Buskevics and Vladimir Goloubev created a gap which was to prove unbridgeable for the remainder of the game. Banvit couldn’t score, couldn’t get to the boards and really seemed lacking in any concentration. By the end of the first period Dynamo was ahead 30-8 and never looked back.

Banvit’s woes continued in the second quarter as they failed to score until after 7 minutes had been played. Dynamo kept up the pressure until late in the period by which time their advantage had broken the 30 point barrier. At half-time the score stood at 49-13.

Dynamo free-wheeled for much of the second half, keeping their 30-point bolster in place but using bench players. Stevin Smith stood out once again for the Russians, boosting the tempo at the beginning of the game and keeping his team-mates mentally in the game.

Buskevics topped for the Russian side with 21 points, Valery Daynenko added 13 and Goloubev 11.
