Cholet Come To Life In Third Quarter, Beat Rostov

02 December 2008

Cholet overcame a nine-point half-time deficit with a storming third quarter to beat Lokomotiv Rostov 76-72  in France on Tuesday.

The home side, with a good crowd of 3,000 showing up to cheer them on, trailed 46-37 at the break after Szymon Szewczyk's three-ball right at the end of the second quarter for Rostov.

But Cholet, getting solid contributions from many of their players, outscored the Russian team 26-11 in the third quarter and then held on over the last 10 minutes for their second straight win in EuroChallenge Group C.

Fred House buried a jump shot to give Rostov a 50-39 advantage not long after the restart, and Cholet responded by scoring 16 straight points.

They took a 63-57 lead to the final quarter and kept their noses in front the rest of the way.

House had a game-high 21 points for Rostov (1-1).

Cholet were eight of 15 from behind the arc, with Nando De Colo four of six. He had 20 points to lead the team in scoring.

The French outfit won the rebounding battle 40-35 although Rostov's Pero Antik, a star player with the Former Yugoslavia Republic of Macedonia national team, had a game-high 11 boards to go with his 10 assists.
