Lokomotiv Rostov can hardly believe they failed to reach the quarter finals of the EuroCup as they were edged out by Panionios.
The Russian team lost their final Round II Group K game to Turk Telekom, and Panionios' victory over Spirou Charleroi put the Greeks into the last eight instead.
"Our team had strong intentions," said Boris Tikhonenko, the Lokomotiv general director representative on the club's official website.
"We fought to the end, and you can't fault our lads in terms of effort, but luck just wasn't on our side.
"I don't want to take anything away from the Turkish side - they are leaders of their national championship.
"But on top of everything, this evening they sunk three-pointers, one after another - 10 times in all."
The intimidating crowd in Ankara also made life difficult for Lokomotiv.
"The 5,000 capacity arena was full, too, and that played its part," Tikhonenko added.
"To win in such an atmosphere was practically impossible."
