Kresimir Loncar had 22 points and 11 rebounds as Lokomotiv Rostov beat Dynamo Moscow in the Russian capital on Friday.

With the season resuming after the Christmas break, Loncar and Co looked as if they had not missed a beat in winning 84-79.

Rostov are anxious to strengthen their bid for a place in the end of-season play-offs in Russia's Superleague so this was a very important result in furthering that aim.

The visitors trailed 19-14 at the end of the first quarter but hit back in second to lead 40-32.

The closest Dynamo would get the rest of the way was at 82-79 in the final minute after a Sergey Bykov three-pointer.

Dynamo fouled Artem Kuzyakin, who missed the first but made the second to stretch the lead back to four.

Dimitriy Khvostov attempted a shot from the arc for Dynamo but missed, and Kuzyakin rebounded, with Rostov's Bykov adding a pair of free throws at the end for the final score.

Maurice Bailey also contributed 22 points for Rostov, who are in fifth place and improved to 7-4 on the season.

Dynamo Moscow, who are in third place, slipped to 8-3.

Rostov are preparing for a January 9 game in Round II of the EuroCup against Panionios.
