Santos' 13 points were not enough

Pays d'Aix Basket picked up their first victory in the EuroLeague Women after beating CUS Chieti 60:52.

Both teams came out firing in the first quarter, putting on a fine shooting display and matching each other shot for shot.

Sviatlana Volnaya started the 2nd quarter by hitting a 3-pointer for Aix and suddenly there was no stopping the French team.

They went on a 7-0 run and carried on building their lead, going into the halftime break up 38:23.

Chieti stepped up on defense in the third quarter, holding the French to just 2 points in the opening 5 minutes and cutting the lead to 12, 28:40.

However, despite a strong 4th quarter from Chieti, Pays managed to maintain the distance between the 2 teams and win hold on for the win.

Czech center Eva Nemcova had 17 points and 9 rebounds for Chieti.

Lara Mandic top scored for Pays d'Aix Basket with 14 points on 5/7 shooting from the field.
