At 2-8 and 6th place in Group A, Carichieti’s Euroleague Women season can be considered all but over. On Wednesday, the Italian side visit competition highfliers Barcelona, who are currently in 2nd place in the group in their first year ever in European club competition.

Despite the problems in Europe, Carichieti are coming off a win in the Italian League at the weekend over Viterbo. In a worrying moment for the club, top scorer Bridget Pettis was forced to leave the game with a head injury and would later have 6 stitches. Fortunately, the injury will not prevent her from suiting up against Barcelona.
The Spanish side have had problems of their recently, most notably defeat to fellow Euroleague Women side Ros Casaras Valencia in the Copa de la Reina. After having destroyed Ruzomberok by 39 points last week (95:56), they will no doubt be looking to cement their reputation as one of the form teams in the competition.
“Barcelona is a very strong team, they are playing to be the winner of the competition”, said Carichieti coach Claudio Agresti
“They have very quick players so it will be very important for us to limit their actions as much as possible; on our side we will do our best to give a good performance.”
