Janis Strelnieks - EuroBasket 2011 Profile

Janis Strelnieks comes to the Latvian national side having gained valuable experience playing in the 2009 U20 European Championship, where he averaged 14 points a game. Though he still has parts of his game to work on, the young point-guard has good court-vision and can distribute the ball well to the post players. He isn't the quickest of guards and his ball-handling skills aren't spectacular either but he is still very effective and he can play a solid enough role as the team's floor general. His strongest asset is his long-range shooting, and he will look to get that going early. Regardless of his limitations, he will look to improve and work on them over the summer and time is still very much on his side. There really is no better place than with the national squad to learn from his mistakes and further develop his game.
