With 24 points topscorer of the game: Milan Gurovic
Milan Gurovic picked up the slack for his injured teammates Peja Stojakovic and Marko Jaric and scored 24 points, leading Serbia & Montenegro to victory over Russia. Russia proved to be missing their superstar Andrei Kirilenko more than Serbia & Montenegro missed Jaric and Stojakovic in this game.

Since the game wasn't of great importance for either of the teams they rested their best players. Stojakovic sat for the second straight game because of a sprained ankle, Jaric had a broken nose. Kirilenko suffered from a back injury.

Russia struggled to score in Kirilenko's absence in the beginning of the game, and trailed 29-18 after the first quarter. Russia eventually fought it's way back into the game and kept chipping away at the Serbian lead. In the fourth quarter Russia put on a final effort and got to within one point with the score 71-70 in favour of Serbia & Montenegro and 3 minutes 33 seconds left on the game clock.
