Sergey Monya - EuroBasket 2013 Profile

Team 2012-13: Khimki Moscow Region (Russia-PBL)
Career: Avtodor Saratov (Russia-Superleague, 2000-02); CSKA Moscow (Russia-Superleague, 2002-05); Portland Trailblazers (USA-NBA, 2005-06); Fort Worth Flyers (USA-D-League, 2006); Sacramento Kings (USA-NBA, 2006); Dynamo Moscow (Russia-Superleague, 2006-10); Khimki Moscow Region (Russia-PBL, 2010-13)

Sergey Monya is a true captain and a warrior for this Russian team. The Khimki forward has not missed a single training session of the national team since 2005 and with the stars of his generation missing for Slovenia and the whole team being in the process of transition after David Blatt's departure, Monya will be as vital as ever both on and off the court. Monya became one of the heroes of EuroBasket 2011 with his buzzer-beating threes giving his team wins in the preliminary stage against Slovenia and F.Y.R. of Macedonia. Last club season was very successful for the Russian captain as he led Khimki to the Top 16 of Euroleague and the VTB League semi-finals.
