"The future of Russian basketball"; "A more gifted guy than Kirilenko"; "A new European prodigy". It is all about him, the 19-year-old small forward from Saint Petersburg, who has made a lot of noise this summer. Karasev was drafted by the Cleveland Cavaliers in June and will make his NBA debut following EuroBasket. In July Sergey was the key to Russia's successful campaign at the Universiade in Kazan and will now complete an eventful summer at EuroBasket. Despite being very young Karasev's got big experience in playing international basketball having won two medals at youth European/World Championships. The former Triumph star will be regarded as one of the leaders in the renewed Russian roster and will try to make the team's fans forget about the absence of Kirilenko and Khryapa in Slovenia.
