Russia's early run in the first quarter led to an 82-66 victory over Croatia in the Termosteps U16 European Championship quarter-final round action.
Russia went on a 13-0 run early in the first quarter to open up a nine-point advantage and took greater command by going on a 12-4 spurt in the second quarter to eventually take a 49-28 edge into halftime.
Croatia actually outscored Russia in the second half, but the game was never in doubt in the second half.
Aleksandr Karpukhin led the Russians with 20 points – 18 of which came on six three-point field goals.
He hit a pair in the midst of the 13-0 Russia run in the first quarter that turned a 5-2 deficit into a 15-5 lead and set Russia on an easy path to victory.
