It was an eventful final day at the U20 European Championship Men 2010 in Croatia and not just because of the fight to get a podium place.

The nerves were jangling ahead of the main event in the Relegation Round as Turkey, Netherlands and Germany fought for their Division A lives.

Montenegro, Russia To Contest Fifth Place

Russia and Montenegro will sign off their participation at the U20 European Championship Men 2010 by trying to claim fifth place on the final day of action after they claimed wins against Serbia and Ukraine.

A stunning 30 points from Vladimir Mihailovic and a blistering 20-6 opening quarter helped Montenegro put a tired looking Ukraine to the sword by 84-61.

Greece Shut Out Russia In Third, Move Into Semis

Reigning champions Greece booked their place in the last four of the U20 European Championship Men 2010 after strangling the life out of Russia with a remarkable third quarter defensive effort to earn a runaway 74-55 success.

Offensively, the inspiration for Greece was again Nikos Pappas - top scorer in the competition and still the leading candidate in the race for tournament MVP. The point guard claimed 27 points and only missed out on an unlikely double-double by a single rebound.

Russia Disappoint, Slovenia Win In Vain
There was a sense of disappointment for both teams as Russia and Slovenia left the court at the U20 European Championship Men 2010 in Makarska.

While Slovenia chalked up what was only their second triumph in the entire tournament with an 82-68 win, they still finish bottom of the group while Russia were condemned to a tough quarter-final against defending champions Greece.
