If you have been around top European basketball for at least a couple of years, it's hard to miss a thing about Sergey Monya. ‘Captain Russia', as they call him, has been one of the symbols of Russian basketball for some time now. Always eager to play for his national team, Monya missed last summer's international campaign for the first time in 11 years. He is a very athletic forward who is famous for his defensive abilities. EuroBasket fans can remember him from the 2011 tournament in Lithuania, where he came up with some clinical shots at the death for Russian. The previous club season was a success for Monya as he helped Khimki to lift the Eurocup and make the finals of the VTB League.
