With another impressive performance Russia continued to shine at the U16 European Championship Women. The Russians captured their second straight victory in a 97-54 rout over Sweden.
Russia collected win No. 2 in convincing fashion. A well balanced team effort mounted into a commanding victory with 43 points difference. Albina Razheva and Polina Sych led the winning side in scoring with 16 points each. Razheva also grabbed nine rebounds.
In game 1 the Russians started off nervous. Second time around they weren't nervous at all. Right from the start they took over the control of the game and impressed with a very strong performance. While Sweden were able not to let the distance between them and Russia grow too much in the opening quarter, they couldn't match the firepower of the Russians in the following game time.
Russia started the second period with a 7-0 run to build up a comfortable lead (31-16). From this point to the finish this game was totally in their hands. Sweden's top scorer Paulina Hersler had a hard time to get good looks against the Russian defense. She was limited to 9 points today after dropping 33 on Lithuania yesterday.
In the remainder of the game Russia ran up the score. Sweden had to accept defeat and will look to regroup before their final match of Group A against Finland. Russia are to face Lithuania up next where they look to continue their impressive run at the U16 European Championship Women.
