Cleopatra Forsman B. Goga collected 10 points, nine rebounds, five assists and five steals as Sweden captured a best-ever fifth-place showing at the Termosteps U16 European Championship Women by beating Russia 60-55.
Amanda Zahui Bazoukou had 16 points and 13 rebounds for her fifth double-double of the U16 event.
Anastasiya Shilova scored 12 points and fellow bench player Veronika Dorosheva added 10 as Russia's reserves guided Russia to a 63-44 victory over Hungary in the games for 5th-8th Place at the Termosteps U16 European Championship Women.
The Russian bench players out-scored the first five 34-29 with Alexandra Tarasova the only starter with 10 points or more.
With a berth in the semi-finals hanging in the balance, Russia needed a late fight-back to knock off a motivated Belgium and give themselves excellent chances of making the top four of the Termosteps U16 European Championship Women.
Alexandra Tarasova scored 11 of her 19 points in the final four minutes and grabbed 15 rebounds for Russia, who improved to 4-1 in Group F and awaited the result of the France-Spain showdown to see if they made Saturday's semis.
Russia shocked Spain with a 63-60 victory to take a giant leap towards the semi-finals of the Termosteps U16 European Championship Women and handing the reigning champions their first loss since 2005 and only their second defeat in the past four U16 tournaments.
Russia have won just a 2004 bronze and 2001 silver at the U16 level since taking gold at 11 of the first 12 competitions (the final three as Russia) until 1997.
