Turkey held off a resilient Sweden to prevail 52-49 in the last qualifying round game of the UMCOR European Championship for Women.
Turkish forward Burcu Tasbas led her team with 15 points, scoring all of them from long range where she buried five of eight shots (62.5%).
Unbeaten Serbia showed no signs of slowing down as they claimed a69-47 triumph over Turkey in Wednesday's qualifying round at the UMCOR U18 European Championship for Women.
Serbian guard Nina Bogicevic had a game-high 14 points while she also pulled down 10 rebounds and dished out five assists.
Another excellent performance from Agnieszka Skobel led Poland to a come-from-behind, 59-50 triumph over Turkey in the opening Group F clash for the two sides.
Skobel had 17 points and 13 rebounds for the Poles, who turned a 22-15 deficit near the end of the first quarter into a 28-22 lead with 5:30 to go in the first half.
Germany beat Italy 70-65 but it wasn’t sufficient to see them through to the last 16.
Having failed to win their previous two games, the Germans need to beat the Azzurre by a seven point margin to make it to the qualifying round but despite their efforts, it was not to be as the Italians instead took third in the group and advanced.
