Mehtap Gezer

Another young player who has developed within the Istanbul University programme, based in her hometown, Mehtap Gezer has played for Turkey both at youth level and also last summer when she made the step to the senior team in the Qualifying Round. She was handed over 17 minutes per game by Coach Yildizoglu and established herself as an important member of the side with some diligent performances, characterised by her hard work off the ball and the invaluable intangibles you just don't see on the stat sheet. Importantly, she showed she is more than capable of producing in games of this magnitude when she poured in 18 points against Finland which was a career high score for the senior National Team. Mobile for her size and good defensively, the 22-year-old Gezer will no doubt be hoping she can continue her development at the elite level and certainly has the talent to become a regular in the team.
