After missing EuroBasket Women 2009 through injury, Alben came alive two years later, with her impeccable defence and ability to come up with priceless steals in key situations meaning she was a central part of her team's silver medal success. She also showed that she can make some big shots offensively, with a decisive one from three-point range down the stretch against France in the semi-finals particularly memorable. A great character both on and off the court, she is capable of locking teams down and especially when paired up with Vardarli. Injuries and absences in the playmaking spot at Galatasaray last season meant she was handed even more responsibility for running the plays and should be an even better player because of that experience. She has led the way in assists for her team at their last two tournaments.
