Team 2012-13: Houston Rockets (USA-NBA)
Career: Fenerbahce (Turkey-TBL, 2005-06); Alpella (Turkey-TBL, 2006-07); Fenerbahce (Turkey-TBL, 2007-10); Chicago Bulls (USA-NBA, 2010-12); Houston Rockets (USA-NBA, 2012-13)
Asik is the country's top center and he showed his potential this past season with the Houston Rockets, averaging 10.3 points and an NBA third-best 11.6 rebounds-per-game to go along with 1.1 blocks-a-contest. The 27-year-old had 17 games with at least 15 rebounds - topped by 22 rebounds versus the Phoenix Suns - and he blocked at least three shots 11 times. Asik lived up to his big contract by shooting 54%from the field - only slightly less than the disappointing 57% from the charity stripe, which remains his main weakness. Asik will be refreshed coming back to the national team after taking the summer off from the EuroBasket 2013 qualifiers. He will team up with Semih Erden in one of the better low post duos in the tournament. Asik will also be looking to forget the off-season in Houston, where his production will certainly be cut in 2013-14 with the arrival of Dwight Howard. So expect Asik to have a chip on his shoulder.
