Turkey Into Semi-Finals

Turkey is the first team to make it to the semi-finals of the tournament after a 63-60 win over Croatia in Group E.

The win lifted Turkey to a 4-1 record and they will wait to see who they will face on the way to the finals.

Croatia dropped to 1-4 waiting for the result of the Israel-Ukraine game to know their future.

Baris Hersek with another big performance reached 19 points and 13 rebounds, Ogun Sevinc added 13 points with four hits from long range, Azizcan Ozdemir added 12 and Dogus Balbay scored eight, dished eight and had two blocks.

Filip Kurslin led Croatia with 16 points and Marino Sarlija added 13.

"We're so happy to be in the semi-finals. Croatia is a good team and they gave us a good fight, but what matters now is that we won," summarized Ozdemir.

"Now we look for the future and we want to be the champs."

Croatia started with a 6-0 lead and finished the first quarter with a 16-13 advantage.

Sevnic hit his first bomb to tie the score and quickly Turkey was on top but the teams entered the half time break tied at 25-25.

The slow tempo continued in the second half until Hersek and Ozdemir scored 10 points in a row to make it an eight point Turkish lead.

Sevinc hit again and again from long range and Hersek added another bucket as the margin reached already 17, 62-45 with only four minutes to play.

When it seemed like a done deal Croatia made one last effort.

Their 15-0 run made it just a two point difference with 11 seconds on the clock.

Sevinc scored one from the line and Teo Petani missed a three pointer in the last seconds that could have sent the game to overtime.
