Hakan Demirel

Career: Tofaş (Turkey Division 1, 2002-2004)

Demirel might very well be the answer to Turkey’s ongoing point guard woes. Last year in the U18 European Championships he was the best guard and rightfully so. His 2.01m wingspan makes him a great defender and his on the ball skills are second to none. He is a good but not a great passer, but maturity would bring that along too. He is a good scorer but chooses to shoot only when asked to or to keep the defense honest. If he keeps the learning curve and drive he has since shown he is destined to be a star. But he had a fruitless season at Gonzaga, sitting out all games because of a redshirt clause, banning him from playing because he played professionally in Turkey.
