Group F winners Turkey extended their winning streak to six games at the U20 European Championship Women with a 62-57 win against Russia to ensure they head into Friday's Quarter-final without having tasted defeat in Debrecen.
Turkey was always on top in this last Group F Second Round clash having started strongly to open up a double-figure lead inside the first seven minutes at 16-6 thanks to a score by Pelin Bilgic.
And, they remained very much on the front foot for the most part, managing to keep Russia at bay and their noses in front right up until the last few minutes when they were subjected to severe pressure in an exciting climax.
However, Russia couldn't make up the difference having got to within a point at 56-55 with two minutes remaining and they will be ruing only making 8 of 17 free-throws.
Although at least the loss meant they will now face Sweden instead of Spain in the Quarter-Finals on Friday with Turkey playing Belarus.
Ayse Cora led the Turkish team with 15 points whilst Olcay Cakir recorded 10 points, six rebounds and three assists.
Centre Ksenia Tikhonenko claimed a double-double of 14 points and 14 rebounds for the losing team.
