Turkey Surge Past Finland
Tayfun Erülkü and Ugur Dokuyan each scored 14 points to lead four players in double figures as Turkey surged past Finland 87-57 for their first victory in Group B of the U18 European Championship Men.
Erbil Eroglu and Samet Geyik each added 10 points for Turkey, who are 1-1 in the group. Finland fell to 0-2 despite 15 points from Kalle Naapi and 11 points from Visa Tarjanne.
Tarjanne scored seven points in a 12-0 Finland run to a 13-4 lead, which grew to 18-8 on Naapi's three-pointer.
But the Finns led 18-14 after one quarter and the lead was still 24-16 before Turkey blasted ahead with a 28-2 run and led 44-28 at halftime.
Finland pulled the margin to within 13 points but Turkey answered with an 8-0 run and then pushed the gap to 24 points, 64-40. And it was 64-44 after three periods.
Turkey opened the fourth with an 11-3 surge and Finland never got closer than 20 points the rest of the way.
