Turkey U18 Tune-Up In Slovenia

11 July 2009

Turkey are in the thick of their preparations for the U18 European Championship Men 2009 in Metz, France, with a trip to Slovenia for a warm-up tournament next on the calendar.

Mustafa Derin's side is travelling to Postojna for a friendly competition (July 12, 13 and 14) against Serbia, the Slovenians and France.

Turkey should arrive in confident mood after playing well in an international tournament in Slovakia where they finished second out of four teams.

If the performances of Turkey duo Burak Yacan Yüksel and Cenk Şekeroğlu in their last game against hosts Slovakia were anything to go by, they will be players to look out for at the U18 event in Metz.

In that 85-60 drubbing of the Slovakians, Yüksel scored 17 points and Şekeroğlu weighed in with 13 points and seven rebounds.

Turkey will compete with Latvia, Bulgaria and Greece in Group C of the U18 European Championship which tips off on July 23 and continues until August 2.
