Israel Too Much For Swiss
Israel won their opener of the U18 European Championship Division B Men by cruising past Switzerland while Belgium and Slovakia improve to 2-0 in their groups.
Yaniv Solomon paced three players in double figures with 17 points as Israel beat Switzerland 101-49 in their Group D opening game.
Or Solomon added 16 points and Egor Koulechov scored 14 points.
Vincent Gaillard scored 12 points to lead Switzerland, who dropped to 0-2.
Slovakia improved to 2-0 with a 57-56 victory over Sweden, who dropped to 1-1.
Slovakia, who were paced by Boris Bojanovsky with 15 points, 22 rebounds and six blocks, led 56-49 with 3 minutes left and just barely held on.
Sweden were led by Tobias Borg with 18 points, five rebounds, five assists and three steals while William Magarity had 15 points, eight rebounds and four blocks.
In Group B, Belgium move to 2-0 with Arno Mollekens collecting 12 points and 12 rebounds in their 68-56 victory over England, who dropped to 1-1 despite 11 points and 13 rebounds from Ross Wilson.
Rasmus Larsen scored 17 points and Esben Reinholt had 12 points and 10 rebounds as Denmark moved to 1-0 with a 62-50 victory over Portugal, who dropped to 0-2 despite 12 points from Diogo Ventura.
