Sweden remained perfect at the Global Vision U18 European Championship Women, with a victory against Slovenia, 64-42, in the Qualifying Round.

Two important runs, one just at the start of the game and one in the third quarter, were all the Swedish team needed to put this game away.

Slovenia scored their first points of the game with just over three minutes left in the first quarter, on a three-pointer made by Ziva Macura, when the opponents have already had 14 points on their side.

The Slovenes got back in the game, and used a 7-0 run of their own, to close the gap at four, 15-19 with 3:49 to halftime.

But Sweden pushed the pedal again in the third quarter and an impressive 21-2 run put to sleep any Slovenian ambitions.

The Nordic team used their stifling defense and a powerful and physical game inside the paint to take the advantage. And, above all, Amanda Zahui had a brilliant day from beyond the arc, with 4-on-7 shooting, completing an already excellent performance by the Swedish.

Zahui finished with 16 points, seven rebounds, and had three of her team's eight blocks.

Nathalie Fontaine added eight points, six rebounds, two assists and two steals and Ulrica Holmqvist had nine points.

The Slovenians were outrebounded 39-52 and went to the free throw line only five times, missing all their attempts.

Alina Gjerkes scored 11 points and had five rebounds, while Ursa Zibert contributed with nine points, on 80 percent shooting from the field.

Slovenia will meet Romania on Tuesday, while Sweden will face Poland.
