Spain broke open a close game in the third quarter and defeated Sweden 82-66 in their Group E clash.

Leading just 40-36 at the break, the Spanish blew the game wide open and went in front by 20 points in the third quarter.

Sweden chipped away at the deficit and pulled to within nine points in the fourth quarter, only for Spain to shut down the tournament hosts over the last four minutes as they claimed their fifth win.

"This was our most difficult game so far," said Spain coach Carlos Colinas. "Not only because Sweden are a good team and they played at home but because we had beaten them twice in friendlies before the tournament.

"Sweden are a very difficult team to defend because of their versatile players.

Spain out-rebounded Sweden 46-26.

Having led all scorers at half-time with 12 points, Sweden star Farhiya Abdi didn't add to her tally.
