Jerebko Uncertainty As Sweden Gear Up For Division B

04.07.2009

Sweden coach Kostas Flevarakis has named a 14-man group for the national team's Bormio Camp in Italy from July 13-22.

Looking to gain promotion back to Division A, the Scandinavians will head south to warm up for the second half of their Division B campaign.

They won all four of their Group C games last summer, including a 61-59 triumph over Georgia - their biggest rivals in the race for first place in the pool.

Flevarakis has not named Jonas Jerebko, the 2.04m forward who was just selected in the second round of the NBA Draft last month by the Detroit Pistons, for the Bormio camp.

It remains to be seen if the 22-year-old will be able to join the Swedes for the rest of their Division B games as he may have NBA commitments.

In Bormio  friendly games, Sweden will compete against hosts Italy, Cameroon and the Czech Republic.

Their first Group C game this summer will be in Dublin against Ireland on August 15.

Sweden squad for Bormio training camp: Johan Åkesson, Kenny Grant, Joakim Kjellbom, Joakim Blom, Thomas Massamba, Lesli Myrthil, Olivier Ilunga, Jim Nyström, Serkan Inan, Martin Pahlmblad, Martin Ringström, Mats Levin, Jonathan Sköldebrandt and Mikael Lindqvist.
