Swiss, Georgia and Sweden Take Early Command

Group C favorites Georgia and Sweden each won for the second time in a row on Wednesday in EuroBasket Division B, while Switzerland scored an imporant away win in Cyprus.

The Swedes edged a close encounter at Slovakia, 89-88, overcoming a 34-point, nine-rebound effort from Radoslav Rancik.

Georgia won 94-77 at Ireland.

Sweden and Georgia are expected to battle it out for group supremacy.

In Group B, Switzerland are top at 2-0 following a 61-59 escape from Cyprus (1-1), who got 19 points and 10 boards from Panagiotis Trisokkas.

Belarus won their first game, 70-59 over Romania (0-2).

In Group A, the Netherlands won 58-54 at Austria to leave both sides at 1-1.

Francisco Elson poured in 12 points and grabbed eight boards for the Dutch.

Iceland defeated Denmark 77-71 in the other game.
