The Montenegro basketball machine showed no signs of slowing down in Norrköping on Saturday as Nikola Pekovic and Co rolled to a 70-50 triumph over Sweden.
In the first leg of the EuroBasket Division B Play-off, the Montenegrins began to pull away at the end of the first half and ended up hammering the Swedes to remain undefeated and take a giant step towards winning promotion to Division A.
Leading 25-23, the Montenegrins outscored their hosts 9-4 over the final 3:02 of the second quarter to lead 34-27 at half-time.
Sharpshooter Vlado Scepanovic had 11 points in the first half for Montenegro, with big center Pekovic scoring 10 of his game-high 23.
On top 36-29 early in the third quarter, Omar Cook buried a three-ball and Pekovic followed with a three-point play as Montenegro stormed into a decisive lead.
With 4:43 remaining, a Predrag Drobnak three-point play extended the lead to 52-31. Johan Akesson was the only Sweden player to finish in double figures (13 pts).
Montenegro out-rebounded Sweden 43-29.
