Hungary Safeguard Status

Sweden put up a superb fight but Hungary won the day to secure their place in EuroBasket Division A while condemning the Scandinavians to relegation.

The Hungarians led just 57-54 with a little more than six minutes remaining but gradually pulled away for a 75-64 triumph.

FYROM Survive Sweden Scare

Sweden threw a major scare into FYR Macedonia but couldn't spring the upset as the team from the Balkans won 78-73 to clinch first place in Group B.

Fresh off their 95-50 mauling of previously unbeaten Estonia, FYROM moved into the driver seat for a place in the next phase of the additional qualifying tournament for EuroBasket 2007.

Estonia Clinch Third Win With Strong Second Half

Estonia took a big step towards reaching the next phase of the additional qualifying tournament for EuroBasket 2007 with a resounding 68-54 triumph over winless Sweden.

The Estonians, who play in the shadow of Baltic neighbors Lithuania and Latvia - two sides that have already booked places in the EuroBasket - prevailed for the third time in a row.

FYROM Renew EuroBasket Hopes

FYROM moved to within a point of Estonia at the top of Group B of the additional qualifying round of EuroBasket after a 77-58 win over Sweden on Friday.

Vrbica Stefanov was the star for FYROM as he chalked up 22 points and six rebounds while his namesake Riste Stefanov contributed 19.
